4 Reasons Your Dacor Oven is Not Heating

If your Dacor oven is no longer heating up, there could be a few reasons. Like many other oven faults, determining the cause comes down to the process of elimination. Here are the top 4 reasons why your oven may not be warming up as it should.

Faulty Bake Element

If the bake element is broken, the oven is then only heated by the broil element. This will result in uneven heating. You can check if the bake element is working properly simply by looking at it when it is turned on. If it glows red hot, it is working. If not, this means that the element is not working and it will need to be replaced.

Igniter Problems

The igniter is responsible for drawing electrical current through the oven safety valve to the open valve that allows the gas to enter the burner. If the igniter is starting to fail, it can take longer than normal to open the safety valve and this can cause temperature problems. Check the igniter by taking note of whether or not it glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the flame. If the latter is the case, the igniter needs to be replaced.

Burned out Broil Element

If the broil element has burned out, the bake element will heat the oven but you will notice uneven heating. Just like the bake element, the broil element glows red hot when it is working. If the element is not red, it has most likely burned out. Test it with a multimeter and if there is no continuity, have a technician replace this part.

Faulty Oven Control Board

The control board works with the oven sensor to regulate the oven temperature. The sensor tells the control board whether more or less heating is required. If the control board is faulty, it will result in inaccurate oven temperatures. In some cases, the oven control board can be recalibrated. The steps you need to follow can be found in the owner’s manual. If this does not work, contact a trained technician.

These are just a few of the most common reasons for temperature regulation problems in Dacor ovens. Since ovens operate at high temperatures, it’s not uncommon for various parts to experience wear and tear. It is also important to understand the potential risks of attempting repairs yourself. The best approach is to contact a professional as soon as you notice any problems with your Dacor oven. For speedy service, call Max Appliance Repair Vancouver at (604) 229-4068.
