f-01 error code on kenmore dryer

What Does the F-01 Error Code on My Kenmore Dryer Mean?

All appliances experience wear and tear over time. Your Kenmore dryer is no exception and error codes will indicate the type of fault. If you notice an F-01 error code, it could be due to a faulty thermistor. There are a few steps that you can try yourself. If these do not work, you will need to call a professional to perform the necessary repairs.

DIY Quick Fix

Firstly, you need to confirm the error code. Kenmore dryers are made by various manufacturers and this means that the error code can differ from model to model. While an F-01 code may appear on certain models, others may display F1, E1 or E-1. Before you call a technician, you can try holding down the ‘Start’ and ‘Cancel’ buttons together for 15 seconds. This will reset the error code. If this does not resolve the problem, you should remove your laundry before continuing with the diagnosis process.

Unplug your Dryer

Another possible way of fixing this error yourself is by unplugging the dryer for a minute or two. Plug your dryer in once again and perform a test run. If the error appears on the LCD again, you will most likely need to have the thermistor replaced. If the error does not appear again, use your dryer as usual and keep an eye on the appliance in the event that the error should reoccur at a later stage.

Understanding the Error

The F-01 error code means that the thermistor has failed. The dryer ‘thinks’ that the thermistor is open when, in fact, the part has shorted out. The thermistor is designed to read and control the temperatures within the dryer. When this part is faulty, your Kenmore dryer will no longer work. You can locate this part near the bottom of the dryer, next to the exhaust.

Professional Repairs

Before you contact a professional technician, you need to find out the model number of your dryer. This number can be located on the inside of the lid. Contact your local dryer repair expert and explain the fault. Provide them with the error code so that, when they arrive, they will have all the parts needed to perform repairs during their initial visit.

If your DIY attempts do not work, it is best to contact a trained and experienced professional to perform any necessary repairs or part replacements. At Max Appliance Vancouver, our team is skilled and trained in repairing all problems on all Kenmore dryers. When you call us, you can expect fast and efficient service every time.
